Philosophy and The Spiritual Path
Tuesday, May 10, 2016 @ 8 pm est
with Donna Mitchell-Moniak
The word philosophy is a combination of two Greek words: philo meaning love and sophia meaning wisdom or truth. Philosophy is the 'love of wisdom' or the 'love of truth.' By exploring various branches of philosophy, one can observe human history. In each heightened cycle of humanity, we absorbed the 'truth' of the time and lived accordingly. This lecture will highlight significant philosophical 'truths’ and the ways that they have affected our lives today.

Philosophy and Insights Gathered Along the Path
May 17 - June 14, 2016 @ 8 pm est
with Donna Mitchell-Moniak
This class will view the human spiritual path through the lens of philosophy and the philosophical tenets that have been integrated into daily life and societies. Some philosophers and their ideas took humanity off course in the evolution of consciousness and some brought humanity back. We will consider both.
For example, one could juxtapose Buddhist and Greek philosophies. It may be suggested that some disciples of the Buddha took their achievement of expanded mind/awareness to the West, beginning in Ancient Greece. The underlying thoughts of early Greek philosophy and its founders are unmistakably “mindful.” Over a period of several hundred years, there was an attempt to understand the real, the true, the source of phenomena, and interdependent interaction among people. The focus was one of Mind and separating it from the feeling nature. Discourses regarding the desire nature, the ego and the effects these have on both individuals and the collective, reveal striking similarities.
When: Tuesday evenings @ 8pm est for five weeks beginning May 17th
Where: Online. This class is presented using GoTo Webinar.
