The Power of Meditation
Thursday, June 18th, 2015
with Donna Mitchell-Moniak
Do you meditate? Do you know someone who does? Do you want to understand why meditation works to bring about personal betterment?
Meditation increases creativity, patience, and a sense of ease. It brings forward the capacity to listen with less reactiveness and the ability to process outside of the box of habituated reactions. These, and other beneficial changes, are readily accessible through meditation training.
This webinar is a preliminary exploration of how meditation works and why its results bring forward the best aspects of a human being. The four-week online course which follows, Inside Meditation, will expand on the inner workings of meditation and the development of an effective practice. This course is especially useful for those who have tried meditation but have not yet been able to establish a routine. It will also be useful for those wanting to improve their capacity for meditation, or those who teach meditation and wish to refine their understanding of the mechanics of the mind.

The Inner Workings of Meditation: Why It Works
with Donna Mitchell-Moniak
It's simple: take several breaths meditatively and the mind clears, the emotions get peaceful, and newness is possible. Breathe again, feel the sensations of the breath and the mind expands, emotions become joyous, one begins to feel buddha-like. How does this happen? Why does it happen? And, how can one learn how to accomplish meditation as a skill?
This four-week online course will focus on the reasons why meditation is effective - why and how it accomplishes the inner transformations of mind, emotions, and relation to oneself such that benefit to one’s life results. Furthermore, the personal clarifications that meditation fosters makes a person a valuable energy resource to the evolution of humanity and the well-being of planet Earth.
Meditation is both an art and a science. The science aspect was given in detail by two great world teachers millennia ago: Patanjali (of Yoga Sutra renown) and Buddha Shakyamuni. The art or mystical aspect was given through multiple ancient world scriptures but this course will draw upon the Tao te Ching by Lao Tsu. Meditation matters - and those who meditate contribute to the qualitative agents of change to human consciousness.
If you currently meditate, this course will provide you with a precise understanding of how to refine and mature your meditation practice. You can ask questions directly related to your personal practice and meditative experiences. This can be done privately by email, within the class, or in the private Facebook forum created for the course.
If you are new to meditation, this course will provide you with truth and clarity about a meditation practice, what to expect and what not to. Beginning a meditation practice is most often derailed due to expectations on the part of practitioner. Information regarding fundamentals about meditation and about the workings of the mind, emotions, and the sense of self give proper context for all beginner meditation experiences.
Donna Mitchell-Moniak has been teaching meditation for 30 years in meditation retreats and classes. She developed The Practice of Living Awareness as a meditative method for modern sensibilities and with the heightened energies of cosmic changes in mind.
When: Tuesday evenings @ 8pm est for four weeks beginning July 7 and continues July 14, 21, 28.
Where: Online. This class is presented using GoTo Webinar.
Tuition: $75
